Billeh Hamud practices in the areas of employment law, labour law, human rights and discrimination, administrative law, judicial review, and Charter litigation.
In representing his clients, Billeh has acted in matters before the Ontario and Federal Courts and also has extensive experience before labour arbitrators and administrative tribunals including the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, Canadian Human Rights Commission and the Federal Public Sector Labour Relations and Employment Board.
Billeh earned his law degree at the University of Ottawa (J.D.), and holds undergraduate degrees from the University of Western Ontario (B.Sc.) and the University of Toronto (B.A. (Hons) with High Distinction). While at law school, Billeh volunteered at the University of Ottawa Community Legal Clinic representing low-income clients. He has also served on the Board of Directors of OCISO (Ottawa-Community Immigrant Settlement Organization), a non-profit providing settlement services for immigrants and refugees in Ottawa and Eastern Ontario.
Prior to joining Champ & Associates, Billeh articled with a union-side labour firm in Ottawa. Since his Call to the Bar in 2012, Billeh has worked as in-house counsel for private and public sector unions and also practiced at his own law firm in Toronto, Ontario. Most recently, Billeh worked as counsel at the Department of Justice Canada providing Charter and human rights law advice.
